Gemma Wollenschlaeger Honored as USRowing Para Athlete of the Year
Gemma Wollenschlaeger, a standout member of Temple University’s women’s rowing team, has achieved a remarkable milestone by being named the USRowing Para National Team Female Athlete of the Year. This prestigious recognition celebrates her unparalleled contributions to the sport of rowing, both nationally and internationally, and highlights her role in elevating para sports to new heights.
Wollenschlaeger’s accomplishments reached a historic pinnacle at the 2024 Paralympics in Paris, where she was a key member of Team USA's Mixed 4+ crew. The team delivered a silver-medal performance—the highest finish ever recorded by the U.S. in this event. Her performance in Paris furthered the visibility and prestige of para rowing on the global stage.
In accepting the honor, Wollenschlaeger expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the recognition and the journey that led her there. “I am incredibly humbled and grateful for this recognition from USRowing,” she said. “This honor is a testament to the dedication of my teammates and coaches who made these past months the most unforgettable experience of my life.
